Volunteering in a community - Participants will live and work in a community. Volunteers will work in the schools, tutor English, and run activities in the afternoon, soup kitchens and various community projects. The aim is to get involved and help fulfill a need in the community. This is a sometimes challenging, yet rewarding experience, allowing participants the opportunity to enter into the lives of the community and work side by side with Israelis.
Kibbutz – The ultimate Israel experience. Participants will live on the Kibbutz, become involved in the Kibbutz way of life through working and interacting with the Kibbutznikim. A working day generally comprises of eight hours work. Placements range from working in the kindergarten, kitchen, cow shed, and agriculture and so on.
Magen David Adom – Volunteers will work alongside Israeli staff and volunteers on ambulances in Israel . The programme begins with an intensive 60-hour first-aid training course; thereafter volunteers will be placed at MDA stations around the country. Volunteers work on a shift basis and accompany the ambulance on its calls.
Marva – This is a two-month intensive army experience. Participants live on an army base and will experience real Israeli army training. Participants are taught about Israeli culture and the impact of the army on Israeli society. The programme is physically intense but also has a large focus on learning and understanding the army, so central in Israeli society. This is only available in the second 5 months.
Yeshiva / Midrasha – This is an opportunity to explore Judaism through the texts in a stimulating environment promoting Jewish and religious growth. Participants will join a programme at one of the Midrashot or Yeshivot. Full days are spent in shiurim, as well as self-study exploring various texts and topics relevant to our lives today. Learning focuses on Tanach study, Hallacha, Gemara and Hassidut. Learning takes place in a warm environment, surrounded by inspirational Rabbanim and teachers.
Shvil Yisrael – walking the length of Israel is definitely the best way to become familiar with the land and the people. This is an exciting, challenging option… The availability of this option depends on the number of participants who are interested.
