Block one

Jerusalem

In this block there will be a range of choices of various forms of volunteering as well as studies.  From schools to MDA to yeshiva to work with new olim to Midrasha to community centers.  The group will be based together in a central Israeli city.
During  this period there will be a thorough preparation for the Poland encounter --- background knowledge, understandings and emotions.

An opportunity for each participant to examine the components of their individual Jewish identity.

Trip to Poland and seminar

 

A five day encounter with the power and destruction of Polish Jewry, as well as an opportunity to ponder the lessons for today.  This is followed by an opportunity to process the enhanced understandings and feelings aroused by the days in Poland.

From Med to Kinneret

We will walk the traditional path from the Mediterranean to the Kineret encountering many rare sites and personalities on the way.

Freedom Seminar

 

A different preparation for Pesach:  Unpacking the inner meaning of the chag on an individual and national level.

An opportunity to spend the chag with family or in an Israeli home

There will be a choice of three or four settings to celebrate Shavuot.  A traditional yeshiva or Midrasha, an orthodox hippie community a kibbutz and a secular Beit midrash

A three week trek across some of Israel exploring the social and cultural fault lines. This will provide an encounter with the Israel that we do not often meet --- Jews of many different backgrounds and customs living together.

An Opportunity for IBC participants to join the eighth machzor of Mechinat Ein Perat as regular members of the Mechina with an adapted programme and a dedicated madrich.  Free weekends will be scheduled in terms of the programme of the Mechina
